Our Process
We understand reupholstering your seats using high quality, original-style, authentic and even New Old Stock materials can be expensive. We want your project to built to last and treat each as though it were our own car!
Our standard process for nearly all of our upholstery projects include taking your seats down to the bare springs and inspecting the overall condition for things like rust, broken springs, any structural issues or concerns, etc.
Once any issues or concerns have been identified, we notify you and include you in the process and identifying how best to properly repair those concerns before moving on. Replacement springs are hand-made and installed using original-style fasteners and techniques.
Post repairs, we usually have your seat springs sandblasted and painted - we do this for a couple of reasons. If we're starting all the way with the bare springs and doing new padding & foundations, covers, everything - we believe why not start with a freshly painted spring unit as well. It's a great way to protect them from any future corrosion.
Following your springs being painted - we begin new padding and foundations. This includes everything from the base layer of Burlap to heavyweight felt similar to original, additional lateral supports for the springs for increased support, foam, cotton batting, etc. Our goal is to rebuild the padding in a similar fashion to how it was constructed originally using materials similar to those when it was manufactured.
From there, we can begin the process of carefully patterning and replicating your original covers. We make every effort to capture the construction and replicating the original design of your original interior including details such as color-matched thread, materials, piping and welt size & color, etc. Shortcuts and cutting corners are just not in our blood! That said, it's a laborious process that takes a tremendous amount of time to get right. We have a philosophy rooted in the idea that if we aren't happy with the results - they are not finished! We're proud of that.
Once the covers are finished, comes final fitting and installing. Here's the part that can be the most rewarding - and also stressful! The time we see all of the above work come together into something we're proud of.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with every customer we have and are grateful for the time we have with their project. Our belief is that you are more than a customer.
